Welcome to the Online Commons!

The Online Commons (OC) provides for ANES decision-making to be open and transparent. The OC constitutes a forum for scholars to offer ANES constructive feedback, a forum for mentoring graduate students or junior faculty, a vehicle for improving and amending proposals, and an opportunity to measure the extent to which a particular proposal is supported by previous empirical work, current theory, and/or a sizeable scholarly community. Interaction on the Online Commons is a critical mechanism for building and maintaining the ANES as an innovative and broadly-relevant scientific instrument, while also enhancing the effectiveness of related studies.

You can access proposals by clicking on the links below. If you would like to access all proposals, regardless of the study, you can click on the All Proposals link on the right-hand side under Categories.

Each proposal is identified by its title and a brief introduction with a link to the full proposal, which open in a new window. If you would like to comment on proposals in an open forum, you can either return to the original OC window or use the link “Return to the OC to leave comments” located at the end of each full proposal. You can then use the “Leave a reply” link to comment on the proposal.

We strongly encourage you to participate in the forum by providing comments about the proposals you read (and hopefully submitting by proposals of your own). We encourage your questions, feedback, and suggestions on ways we can improve the OC experience; those comments can be sent to: anes@electionstudies.org
